PitchWars Interview: Erin Fulmer

“No matter how good your writing, you will never please every reader, so write what you love first and find the readers that love it too. Publishing is low on external validation and high on arbitrary success stories, which means you’ve got to have that deep determination and passion for the work to fuel you through the low points. Erin Fulmer (she/her) is a public benefits attorney by day, author of urban fantasy and science fiction by night. A 2020 Pitch Wars alumna, she lives in sunny Northern California with her husband and two spoiled cats.   1. Lovely interview, Erin! I too believe that pitching is a numbers game, and is not solely a quality thing (sometimes my least-liked entries are the ones that get the most response, but I wouldn’t know unless I try). Keep on keeping on!

    1. Thank you so much for reading, Stuart! Sometimes what gains traction really is a surprise, isn’t it? There is a certain amount of luck involved, getting the right pitch to the right eyes at the right time.
